early.spring – restorative spaces

March warms up quickly from the previous month, making the most of simple geometrics and sherbet hues. It carries with it many of the shapes from February, but lightens them even more.

As a reminder seasonal color psychology is the study of color and how it’s tones and traits are mirrored in nature and can be relatable to nearly every aspect of design .. design in nature, fashion, interiors, print, florals, art etc. Here is the color psychology mood board for March, so you can see how they relate to each other.

This first month of Spring bursts with playfulness and incorporates the simplicity of February with the youthfulness of the season. Circles feature strongly along with beehive shapes, diamonds and triangles. Furniture is light and airy with thin unadorned legs in wood or curved metal. Wood is often in a very light finish or painted warm pastel colors. Fabrics range from printed cottons to simple denim or duck for upholstery. The rooms are animated and expressive, often with childlike touches that truly add to the ‘feel good’ vibe.

This moodboard and the nine images shown are on my Pinterest board ‘colour psychology – march’ .. please explore the pins further if you would like to.
