Have you ever felt lost? Have you ever come to a fork in the road of your life and not known which path to take?

I certainly have. Let me assure you now, you are never too old to start over and you are never too lost to find your way.
Life can definitely take you off a course you planned to be on. You set your sail to pick up the wind going a particular direction and for whatever reason (sometimes this is choices of your own making that did not go how you thought they would) the proverbial winds change and you are in uncharted waters. And the only way to the other side is to keep going forward. This does not mean you always need to be an optimist, always looking for the silver lining or always thinking you ‘should have done better’. But it does mean you need to look at how this change in direction might have happened and what your part in all of it was or will be.
We have far more power in our own life than we so often give ourselves credit. We allow the opinions, viewpoints and conclusions of others to overshadow our own innate heart guiding truth about ourselves. Each of us have within us things we excel at and enjoy. Think back to when you were young; the times you were really you, the thoughts and feelings you had and what types of things you focused on. What were you drawn to, what made you happy, what came naturally to you? These things stay with us, they might go a bit under the radar, but they remain constant. Often times I think people follow a path they think will please others and take the adult/responsible avenue. Many times this leads to overwork and burnout because the work was never really fulfilling those core desires that are embedded in us.
At no point is it ever too late to make a shift toward what really makes your heart sing. It can be distilled to what things/people/activities/work etc add or contribute to your life and those that take away or cost part of your heart if they consistently remain. It is how we modify our outlook and reactions to these situations that really put them on one side or the other of contributing or costing. It is never too late to create a life where your day to day embraces the things you hold most dear. The work you find most enriching, the moments that light up your heart, the people that fill you up and encourage you.
It does not have to be complicated, strip back all the clutter and think about what is truly most important to you and that will guide your steps.
The thing is you can find these moments even when your life goes a different direction unexpectedly, you can tune into the simple things that calm your heart, lift your spirits and make you laugh. You can think about the scenarios you aspire to, the type of work that would feel effortless and fulfilling, the surroundings that support that vision.
I have taken a long and meandering road. The same things have always been important to me; beauty, connection, intentionality, contemplation and honesty to name a few. I have gotten myself into situations I would rather not have, I have been through much too much at times, but all of it has brought me to where I am right now. Like the saying goes, all those that wonder are not lost. Much love ..
