Hello lovelies,
And here we have the first of our Winter months in the ‘restorative spaces’ series, installment six, December. Care to have a peek at July here, August here, September here, October here and November here.
As a reminder seasonal color psychology is the study of color and how it’s tones and traits are mirrored in nature and can be relatable to nearly every aspect of design .. design in nature, fashion, interiors, print, florals, art etc. Here is a peek at the December color psychology mood board if you would like to see it.
As we lead off from November, it is a natural progression to become rich and elevated. December has a spectacular and luxurious feel to it, more pampering then November and with that it has more tactile presence. December is also full of light and reflection. There is also a shift, even if subtle, from warm to cool.
Interiors for December have a feeling of spaciousness, they feel grand and expansive. Mirrors, reflective metals, crystals and unadorned windows feature strongly. Repetition and order is important; vertical and horizontal lines help achieve this, in paneling, tile, window panes and layout of artwork. Pattern is minimal and is used as a foil to add more movement. Sheen is one of the most important elements of January, more so then any other month. Fabrics are tightly woven and have low pile such as velvet, linen and cashmere.
This moodboard and the nine images shown are on my Pinterest board ‘colour psychology – december’ .. please explore the pins further if you would like to.
